CDC: New COVID-19 Hospitalizations Increase Nearly 16%
Coronavirus hospitalizations in the U.S. have increased for the seventh week in a row, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The week ending in Aug. 26 saw more than 17,400 new COVID-19 hospital admissions an increase of nearly 16% over the prior week.
The vast majority of counties are currently seeing a low level of new COVID-19 hospitalizations, according to CDC data. But about 7% of counties are experiencing a medium or high rate.
The summer increase remains small compared to previous coronavirus waves in the U.S. Still, it is the first time since winter that the country has experienced growing COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.
