Zara owner who was once richer than Bill Gates interested in Man Utd takeover
Spanish billionaire Amancio Ortega is the latest name to declare an interest in buying Manchester United after the Glazer family put the club up for sale.
The ex-Inditex fashion chairman, 86, has informed senior United officials of his interest in purchasing the Premier League giants. The Red Devils were bought out by the Glazer family for 800m back in 2005 and are currently priced at 6billion, which would signal a world-record sale for a football club.
Though the eye-watering figure would be yet a mere drop in the ocean for Ortega, who is credited by Forbes as the 19th-richest person in the world on their real-time billionaires' list.
