Why Victoria Azarenka is wearing a PSG shirt at the Australian Open
Victoria Azarenka has revealed her son is behind her decision to wear a Paris-Saint Germain shirt at the Australian Open.
The 33-year-old kept her bid for a third crown at Melbourne Park alive by beating US star Jessica Pegula in straight sets on Tuesday and donned the jersey of the Ligue 1 giants after the match.
The two-time Australian Open winner has worn the kit throughout the tournament so far and last week explained the fashion choice was down to her seven-year-old son Leo.
'He saw me wearing the shirt; he will wear the shirt so we're matching,' she told the WTA's website.
'I have been supporting them [PSG] since 2012, since [David] Beckham was signed to the club. I have been a fan for a long time and been to many, many games.'
While his mum is a multiple Grand Slam winner, Leo appears more inclined to pursue a career in football than follow Azarenka on the tennis court.
