USA star Brenden Aaronson was statistically the worst player in Premier League this season
United States midfielderBrenden Aaronson has been crowned the worst player of the 2022-23 Premier League season by stats boffins Sofascore.
The 22-year-old, who made the move from RB Salzburg to the Premier League team in May last year in a $31million deal, was part of the Leeds side relegated to tier 2 of English soccer on Sunday.
Aaronson scored just one goal and supplied three assists in 41 matches in his debut season and in fact earned the worst average rating for players who appeared in over 40 percent of top-flight games.
Sofascore revealed the worst team of the campaign following a dramatic final day at the weekend and the USMNT star was the worst of the lot with a rating of 6.51.
He was joined by three of his Leeds teammates as the team that began the season with Jesse Marsch at the helm finished five points from safety, down in 19th place.
Striker Patrick Bamford and defenders Junior Firpo and Robin Koch were also in the unwanted XI.
Aaronson is unlikely to be lining up for Leeds in the Football League Championship next season.
