Southampton 0-1 Newcastle: VAR TWICE disallows goals for handball either side of Joelinton's striker

Joelinton was at the centre of the action for Newcastle as they saw off a resilient Southampton side in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final encounter, after a thrilling end-to-end cup tie at St. Mary's.

After a pulsating start to the game, it was still level at the break despite Joelinton having the ball in the back of the net, only for it to be ruled out for offside after a tight VAR call.

The Brazilian did then finally get on the score sheet with an emphatic finish from a matter of yards out, after Alexander Isak had done brilliantly down the right-hand side to give the visitors the lead.
