Sir Jim Ratcliffe called Man Utd owners the Glazers 'the nicest people' after meeting

Sir Jim Ratcliffe - who, on Tuesday, formally announced his plans to buy Manchester United - has already met the Glazers, and he was quick to sing their praises.

Speaking at an event hosted by the Financial Times over the summer, Radcliffe was asked about his Chelsea bid, and the Red Devils. He responded: "Manchester United is owned by the Glazer family whom I have met.

"I've met Joel and Avram and they are the nicest people, I have to say, they are proper gentlemen. If it had been for sale in the summer then, yes, we would have probably had a go following on from the Chelsea thing.
