Shattered NRL legend loses premiership ring as he accidentally donates it to the Salvation Army

Newcastle Knights legend Marc Glanville is devastated after losing his 1997 premiership ring in bizarre circumstances.

The 56-year-old accidentally threw out the individual piece of rugby league history - as well as his wedding ring and a watch - when moving house in the Hunter region, north of Sydney.

Glanville kindly donated several items to a Salvation Army store in Jesmond on Sunday - but he didn't mean to include the ring he received after playing in the club's historic win over Manly.
