Rugby World Cup chiefs insist there will be no repeat of Owen Farrell farce after England captain...
Rugby World Cup bosses have insisted they are confident there will be no repeat of the farcical disciplinary process which centred on Owen Farrell this summer in France.
England captain Farrell was sent off against Wales in a tournament warm-up game in August.
He was initially cleared of dangerous tackling by the Six Nations, but World Rugby stepped in to ban him.
It means Farrell will miss England's first two pool games with Argentina and Japan, but the confusing nature by which he was eventually suspended stunned the rugby community.
World Rugby chief executive Alan Gilpin told a press conference in Paris on Monday to open up the World Cup it was his belief another Farrell-type scenario will not happen.
'Yes, we're confident. We're never complacent with these things,' Gilpin said.
'Obviously we've introduced the foul play review bunker through Super Rugby and then into the summer games for the World Cup warm-up matches.
