Mystery as Sri Lanka cricket star gets 12-month suspended ban over T20 World Cup in Australia

Sri Lankan star Chamika Karunaratne has been slapped with a 12-monthsuspended ban for misconduct stemming from his time in Australia during the T20 World Cup.

The paceman, 26, was also fined $5,000,the island nation's cricket board confirmed on Wednesday.

Sri Lanka Cricket did not provide further detail, only stating Karunaratnebreached 'several clauses'.

'A three-member inquiry panel recommended that the board 'strongly warn the player to refrain from further violations and to impose a punishment that will not have an impact on his cricketing career,' the statement added.
