Liverpool FC have loudest and most passionate fans, according to football lovers
Daily Star Liverpool FC has been voted as the club with the loudest and most passionate fans, according to a survey of football lovers.
The team beat Premier League winners, Manchester City, in terms of the level of noise and support that comes from their fans (28%, compared to 14%).
And the poll of 2,000 football fans, who have travelled to games, revealed that the cheering of the crowds is their favourite sound when watching the sport live followed by the funny chants, and team anthems being sung at international games.
Other top sounds associated with the beautiful game include fans clapping, the sound of the ball hitting the back of the net and the tense silence before a penalty kick.
And 90% of those polled feel a good atmosphere makes for a more memorable match with 68% even saying the sounds inside a stadium can impact the outcome of a game.
The familiar theme tune of the UEFA Champions League also featured in the top five favourite sounds from the sport.
And fans can look forward to hearing this soon as Manchester City take on FC Internazionale Milano in the Champions League final in Istanbul, on June 10.
