Kansas City Royals' Edward Olivares hits 452-foot home run so hard he breaks the scoreboard
Kansas City Royals left fielder Edward Olivares made quite the impression on Sunday when he hit a home run so hard that the ball broke the outfield scoreboard.
Olivares hit a 452-foot solo homer in the eighth inning of Kansas City's 3-2 win against Washington that damaged a scoreboard reading 'Welcome to the City,' at Kaufmann Stadium.
The massive drive blackened a small strip on the left side of the scoreboard, and smoke was seen coming from the area in the immediate aftermath.
The 27-year-old Olivares connected against Chad Kuhl, tying it at 2. It was his fourth homer of the season.
So far this season, Olivares has hit for a .232 average, 11 RBIs, and four home runs.
As for the rest of the game, Michael Massey's single with two outs in the ninth scored MJ Melendez to cap a late rally that lifted the Kansas City Royals to a 3-2 victory over the Washington Nationals on Sunday.
The Royals hit homers in the seventh and eighth innings to tie the game, then pulled it out in the ninth to avoid a sweep.
