Javier Hernndez suffered what looked to be a serious injury in LA Galaxys Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal loss to Real Salt Lake on June 7, and now the worst news has been confirmed. The club already sit rock bottom of the Western Conference, having only won 3 and lost 9 of 14 games this season.

The MLS club released a statement on June 9: The LA Galaxy today announced that forward Javier Chicharito Hernndez sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during the clubs 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal match against Real Salt Lake on June 7. Hernndez will undergo surgery on a date to be determined to begin the rehabilitation process.
