Football fans are getting it wrong by calling Champions League finalists Inter Milan
Inter Milan are out to cause the upset of the season in the Champions League final against Manchester City - but might have to do so while being called the wrong name.
Founded way back in 1908 as Football Club Internazionale, the addition of Milan to their name in English speaking countries is not by their own design.
In fact, Inter started as a breakaway club from their rivals, who were founded in 1899 as the Milan Football and Cricket Club.
Their social media handles of simply @Inter and website of Inter.it tell the full story, with their red and black rivals going by just Milan, without the AC, in their native Italy.
