Eddie Jones insisted he loved being back at Twickenham for the Barbarians' win over the World XV
The smile on Eddie Joness face at the final whistle yesterday told you everything you needed to know about his Twickenham return.
We wanted to win. Barbarians rugby is about winning, Jones said after his Baa-Baas beat a World XV 48-42 in his first game back at the home of English rugby since being sacked by the RFU in December.
I had seven years here. Its the longest Ive ever coached a team and I loved every minute. I loved every minute of coming back sun shining, no overcoat or scarf on. Just a shirt. Fantastic.
This time last year, Jones was England head coach and saw his team humiliated by the Barbarians. A few months later, he was dismissed and replaced by Steve Borthwick.
Going back to his old office was always going to be a special occasion for the man who will be in charge of Australia at the World Cup later this year. Victory was an added bonus.
