Ben Foster agrees new Wrexham deal after bear hug from Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool gift
Ben Foster has signed a new one-year deal with Wrexham weeks after playing a vital role in leading the team to National League glory.
The former Manchester United and England goalkeeper came out of retirement to sign for the club in March and put in a string of good performances as the Red Dragons pipped Notts County to the title to claw their way back into the football league for the first time in 15 years.
He saved a stoppage time penalty at the end of an absolutely crucial 3-2 win over County during the run-in, a result that, in hindsight, effectively secured the championship.
After the title was confirmed following a 3-1 win over Boreham Wood a fortnight later, Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds gave the 40-year-old a great big bear hug on the pitch when the keeper hinted he'd stick around for more.
