Aston Villa skipper John McGinn admits to being proud at how the Midlands club saved their season.

When Steven Gerrard was sacked by Villa, they looked like possible relegation candidates.

However, the arrival of Unai Emery saw the Midlands club immediately shoot up the Premier League table, eventually finishing 7th.

McGinn told The Telegraph: It's been quite the turnaround. The resilience I have shown this season is something I am quite proud of and thinking I am now through that means there is more to come.
