Richmond supremo Neil Balme has opened up for the first time on his battle with epilepsy, revealing the terrifying seizures that came on without warning while he was sleeping.
Balme, one of the most respected figures in the footy world, won two premierships with the Tigers as a player and went on to have a successful career in coaching and administration.
The 71-year-old is considered a driving force behind Richmond's remarkable resurgence in recent years as the Tigers won the flag in 2017, 2019 and 2020.
In September 2020, Balme was asleep with his wife he suffered his first epileptic brain seizure completely out of the blue.
