• In Europe, of the 2.5 million patients undergoing high-risk surgery annually, one in four develops serious postoperative complications.1,2
• Intraoperative hypotension (critical drops in blood pressure during surgery) is associated with mortality and major postoperative complications (myocardial injury, acute kidney injury).(3-8)
• EU-HYPROTECT, a European multicenter prospective observational registry which included in its final analysis 702 non-cardiac surgical patients of 12 centers, demonstrates a low rate of hypotension during surgery with the use of the Acumen Hypotension Prediction Index (HPI) software, a monitoring system that predicts hypotension and alerts clinicians before a drop in blood pressure happens.

Edwards Lifesciences today announced the results of the EU-HYPROTECT registry which indicates that using Acumen HPI software may help reduce the duration and severity of intraoperative hypotension in patients having non-cardiac surgery.
