The reality of the Boston Celtics: The most successful franchise... with two rings in 37 years
The NBA delivered a carousel of emotions and drama to its most iconic franchise next to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Boston Celtics. A strong and solid regular season led to the Playoffs drama. From that seventh game against the Philadelphia 76ers to the craziest series ever. Against the Miami Heat, the team with 17 championship banners hanging from its pavilion went through all the episodes of a tragedy. The initial 0-3 collapse, the resurrection for the 3-3 and a seventh game that crowned Jimmy Butler and put, once again, the Celtics against the mirror. Recent history has been relentless with Boston.
The seventh game was undignified. They were never able to command and despite factors such as fatigue or Jayson Tatum's sprained ankle, the reality was a general anticompetitive foul. Miami carried the pace and deservedly won. The Celtics fall again. Jay's' project, Mazzulla's project and one that leaves the team without rings since 2008. That final of Kevin Garnett as a beast against Pau Gasol. And that last crown is, together with the one in 1986 against Hakeem Olajuwon's Houston Rockets, the only ones that the team from the North End of the city has won in 37 years. Two titles in almost four decades.
