Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City Chiefs management were optimistic Saturday following their AFC Divisional Round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The star passer suffered a sprained right ankle, was treated on the field and, before halftime, had to go to the locker room for further testing.
Mahomes returned for the second half and, with some limitations, returned to the field until the end of the game. The diagnosis was a high ankle sprain, one of the most complicated injuries to treat in that area of the body. The problem is that the Super Bowl LIV MVP has only a week to be ready and needs his body to be 100% to be able to play with the mobility that makes him so dangerous.
The 27-year-old said he planned to undergo any treatment that could be helpful and be ready for Sunday, and that's why the extra day of rest could be definitive.

Still, there is still no guarantee that Mahomes will play and the Chiefs' explosive offense would not be the same in the hands of backup Chad Henne, even though he commanded a 98-yard offensive series that ended in a touchdown in the time he was on the field.
